Juneteenth, also known as “Juneteenth Independence” Day or “Freedom Day”, is a holiday celebrated on June 19th that commemorates the emancipation of enslaved African Americans in the United States. It marks the day, in 1865, when Union soldiers arrived in Galveston, Texas, to announce the end of slavery, two years after the Emancipation Proclamation.
At Big Pineville, the temperature was high, but so was the spirit of joy as many came together celebrating all the gifts that God has given us! Vendors brought a wide selection of products as #JoyFest attendees sang along with musical guests, enjoyed great cuisine from the food truck, ate baked goods from several bakers, and bought products from clothes, to tumblers and jewelry! This afternoon of fun and fellowship uniquely brought congregation and community together.
